Lawley Village sits on the western edge of Telford, occupying a landscape that was once defined by Shropshire’s industrial heritage. While it is now one of the region’s largest modern developments, the area’s roots lie in coal and ironstone mining, a history still visible in the restored pit head structures that dot the nearby parks. Geographically, it is dominated by the silhouette of The Wrekin to the west, which provides a natural boundary and plenty of steep walking trails just a few minutes’ drive away. The village is designed around a central square that hosts a supermarket, a handful of shops, and a primary school, creating a self-contained feel despite its proximity to the M54 and Telford’s sprawling town centre. It acts as a useful bridge between the urban amenities of the new town and the quieter, rural lanes of the Shropshire countryside, offering a practical spot for those who need to commute but still want to be within sight of the hills.
