Lawley sits on the western edge of Telford, positioned just south of the M54 and within sight of the Wrekin, which dominates the local skyline. Once a small settlement defined by its proximity to the coal seams and clay pits of the East Shropshire coalfield, the area has undergone a complete transformation over the last two decades. It is now home to one of the largest sustainable urban extensions in the region, organized around a central square that hosts a supermarket, a handful of shops, and primary schooling. Despite the rapid pace of modern development, a few reminders of the old village remain near the Lawley Bank side, including the parish church of St John the Evangelist. The landscape here is characterized by its hilly terrain and a network of footpaths and green spaces that connect the newer housing phases to the Ironbridge Gorge nearby. It is a practical location for commuting into Wolverhampton or Birmingham, but its layout prioritizes walking routes and open play areas, making it feel more integrated with the surrounding countryside than a typical suburban estate.
