Seaview sits on the northeastern corner of the Isle of Wight, tucked between Ryde and St Helens. Originally a small fishing outpost, it developed during the Victorian era into a refined maritime village, though it remains notably quieter than the larger resort towns nearby. Life here is dictated by the Solent; the coastline is a mix of shingle and sand, and the village geography is defined by narrow, sloping streets that lead down to a seafront dominated by the Sea View Yacht Club. While the village has a reputation for its sailing heritage - particularly the traditional wooden Seaview Mermaids - it functions as a practical community year-round. There is a sense of enclosure here, as the village is somewhat bypassed by the main island thoroughfares, leaving it with a distinct, contained atmosphere that stays consistent even when the summer visitors arrive. It is a place where the tide coming in across the Seagrove Bay sands is the main event of the afternoon.
