Brigg is a traditional market town in North Lincolnshire, situated at a historic crossing point of the River Ancholme. Its layout is defined by its heritage as a trading hub, with a dense network of "folds" and courtyards branching off the main pedestrianised shopping streets. The town still hosts a busy market every Thursday and a popular farmers' market on the fourth Saturday of each month. Geographically, Brigg sits in the Ancholme Valley, positioned where the river cuts through the limestone ridge of the Lincolnshire Wolds to the east and the Lincoln Edge to the west. While it maintains a quiet, rural atmosphere, it is practically located for those needing to commute, with the M180 running close by and the A18 providing a direct link to the nearby hubs of Scunthorpe and Grimsby. It is a town that feels self-contained, offering a balanced mix of independent local shops and essential services, all set against a backdrop of flat, open countryside and riverside walks.
