Tanyfron sits on the ridge of the Clywedog Valley, just a few miles west of Wrexham. Its name translates from the Welsh as "under the brow of the hill," which accurately describes its position looking out over the surrounding landscape. The village grew significantly during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries to house workers for the nearby Brymbo Steelworks and the Plas Power Colliery, though today the heavy industry has cleared away, leaving a quieter residential character. It is a practical spot for those who need easy access to the A483, yet it feels distinct from the more urban sprawl of the town centre. Much of the local life centres around the primary school and the proximity to the Moss Valley Country Park, which offers reclaimed green space and lakes for walking right on the doorstep. The housing is a mix of traditional terraced rows that hint at the village’s mining heritage and more recent developments that have expanded the footprint of the community in recent decades.
