Brynteg sits on the elevated ground just a few miles west of Wrexham, where the urban landscape begins to give way to the hills of the Clywedog Valley. Its name, which translates from Welsh as ‘Fair Hill,’ is a nod to its vantage point, offering clear views back across the Cheshire Plain on a bright day. The village grew significantly during the nineteenth century as part of the wider North Wales coalfield, housing many who worked at the nearby Bersham and Gatewen collieries. Today, it remains a quiet residential spot with a compact center, a local primary school, and a community house that serves as a hub for the village. While it feels somewhat removed from the bustle of the town center, its proximity to the A483 makes it a practical base for anyone needing to commute toward Chester or Oswestry, and the nearby Moss Valley Country Park provides a straightforward escape into reclaimed parkland and lakeside walks.
