Nestled in a dry valley in the South Downs National Park, Findon sits just a few miles north of Worthing, though it retains a distinct character quite separate from the coastal sprawl. The village is effectively split into two parts: the main historic village centred around the square, and Findon Valley to the south, which serves as the primary link toward the coast. Geography defines life here; the village is overlooked by the Iron Age hillfort of Cissbury Ring, and the surrounding chalk downland offers immediate access to the Monarch’s Way long-distance footpath. Historically, Findon has been synonymous with equestrian life, a tradition that continues today with the local racing stables and the long-standing Findon Sheep Fair, which has been held on Nepcote Green since the 1700s. While the A24 provides a direct commuter link to London and Horsham, the village core remains remarkably quiet, supported by a handful of traditional pubs, a primary school, and a local shop that keep it functioning as a genuine working community rather than just a suburb.
