Darlaston sits in a practical corner of the West Midlands, bordered by Wednesbury to the east and Willenhall to the west. Once a powerhouse of the Black Country's industrial age, specifically known for producing nuts and bolts, the town has transitioned into a largely residential area defined by its straightforward layout and strong transport links. The town centre is focused around King Street and is served by several large supermarkets and traditional local shops. Geographically, it is split into several distinct pockets, like Catherine’s Cross and Moxley, each with its own character. For most who live here, the primary draw is the convenience of the location; it sits right on the shoulder of the M6, making it an easy base for commuting to Wolverhampton, Walsall, or Birmingham. While the heavy chimneys of the past are mostly gone, the red-brick heritage remains visible in the surviving Victorian terraces and the local town hall, giving the place a sense of continuity and a grounded, unpretentious atmosphere.
