Watton sits in the heart of the Norfolk Brecklands, about twelve miles north of Thetford and twenty miles west of Norwich. Historically, it was a settled point on the Roman road between Great Chesterford and Brampton, though today it is better known as a functional market town defined by its proximity to the vast pine plantations of Thetford Forest. The geography here is notably flat and rural, dominated by the unique sandy "Breck" soils that have shaped the local landscape and agriculture for centuries.
