Bishopston sits on the eastern edge of the Gower Peninsula, acting as a gateway where the suburban reaches of Swansea give way to the designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is a long, linear village that follows the valley, historically shaped by its proximity to the limestone plateau and the Caswell Bay coastline. The local geography is defined by the Bishopston Valley, a dense woodland area managed by the National Trust, where the river famously disappears underground into limestone caves before reaching the sea at Pwll Du Bay. While the village has grown significantly over the last century, it retains a distinct community identity centered around its two traditional pubs, the local primary school, and a comprehensive school that serves much of the wider peninsula.
