Biddulph sits on the edge of the Staffordshire Moorlands, positioned roughly halfway between the Potteries and the Cheshire plain. Known locally as the "Garden Town of Staffordshire," it occupies a valley flanked by the gritstone ridge of Biddulph Moor and the prominent landmark of Mow Cop. While its history is rooted in coal mining and ironworking, the town’s character today is defined more by its proximity to green space, most notably the Victorian-era Biddulph Grange Gardens. The town centre provides a functional mix of independent shops and supermarkets that serve the local population, while the nearby A580 and A527 provide straightforward road links into Stoke-on-Trent and Congleton. It’s a place that feels distinct from the industrial sprawl of the city, offering a quieter, more elevated setting where the urban landscape clearly begins to give way to the rural hills.
