Clock Face sits on the southern edge of St Helens, roughly three miles from the town centre, and carries a name rooted in a 19th-century inn that once displayed a large clock on its facade. For a long time, the landscape was defined by the coal industry, specifically the Clock Face Colliery, but since its closure in the 1960s, the area has undergone a significant environmental shift. The old colliery site has been reclaimed as Clock Face Country Park, a large green space with woodland and fishing lakes that provides a buffer between the village and the more industrial parts of the region. Most of the housing is concentrated along the arterial Clock Face Road, which connects the area toward Bold and Widnes to the south. It’s a practical location for anyone working across the North West; Lea Green railway station is a short distance away, offering direct links to Liverpool and Manchester, and the M62 is easily accessible. Despite the growth of the surrounding suburbs, it still retains a distinct, self-contained village character centered around its local shops, primary schools, and the long-standing labour club.
