Pinner sits in the northwest corner of Greater London, within the borough of Harrow, and still manages to feel more like a self-contained town than a typical suburb. Its layout is anchored by a historic High Street that climbs a gentle hill toward the 14th-century St John the Baptist church, with many of the buildings retaining their medieval timber frames and Georgian facades. Geographically, the area is defined by the River Pinn flowing through the local parks and its position on the Metropolitan line, which provides a direct, reliable link into Baker Street in about 25 minutes. While the architecture is predominantly 1920s and 30s "Metroland" semi-detached housing, there is a significant amount of protected green space, including Pinner Memorial Park and the nearby Ruislip Lido woods. The town is also known for maintaining long-standing traditions, such as the annual Pinner Fair, which has been held in the streets under Royal Charter since 1336. It’s a practical place to live, with a decent mix of independent shops and an established sense of permanence that is increasingly hard to find so close to the city.
