Horsford sits roughly six miles north of Norwich, positioned where the city’s outskirts begin to give way to the more wooded landscape of north Norfolk. It is a village defined largely by its geography; it is bordered to the east by the ancient heathland and pine plantations of Horsford Woods, while the newer NDR (Broadland Northway) skirts the southern edge, providing a quick link to the coast and the airport without cutting through the heart of the community. Historically, the village grew around the remains of a motte-and-bailey castle, though today the most visible landmark is the flint-walled church of All Saints. Life here revolves around a long, linear main street lined with a mix of traditional brick cottages and more recent family housing, supported by a handful of local shops, a primary school, and a couple of pubs. It’s a practical location for those who need to get into the city for work but prefer to be in earshot of the countryside.
