Banwen is a small village situated in the north-west of Neath, in South Wales. Historically, Banwen was heavily associated with coal mining and quarrying, and remnants of these industries can still be seen today. However, the village has undergone significant development over the past few decades and now offers a range of amenities for its residents. These include a primary school, community centre, post office, several shops and a number of pubs. Banwen's location at the foothills of the Brecon Beacons National Park makes it an ideal base for those who enjoy outdoor pursuits such as hiking, horse-riding and cycling. The village is also well-connected to neighbouring towns and cities by bus services and road networks.
