Wimblington sits just south of March, positioned along the old Fenland ridge which gives the village a slightly elevated perspective over the surrounding flat landscape. It is a place that still retains its distinct identity, centered around the stone parish church of St Peter and the landmark wooden sign on the village green which commemorates the local manor. Life here tends to revolve around a few core spots: the primary school, the traditional pubs, and the well-used village hall, which serves as a hub for various community groups. While the nearby A141 provides a straightforward connection to Ely and Huntingdon, the interior of the village remains relatively quiet, characterized by a mix of period cottages and more modern residential pockets. For those who enjoy the outdoors, the surrounding grid of drainage dykes and country lanes offers plenty of level space for walking, and the proximity to March means that the shops and the railway station are only a few minutes away by car or bus.
