Hawkley is a tranquil village located in the East Hampshire district of Hampshire, nestled in the picturesque South Downs National Park. The village is surrounded by rolling countryside, sprawling fields and ancient woodland. The village's name derives from the Old English words "hafoc" meaning hawk and "leah" meaning clearing or meadow. Hawkley's roots date back to the Domesday Book in 1086 when it was recorded as having a population of 16 households. Today, Hawkley remains a charming rural community with stunning period properties and an active social scene. It is conveniently located just a short drive from the towns of Petersfield and Alton offering handy amenities such as shopping centers, restaurants, leisure facilities and quality schools while providing peaceful countryside living.
