North Hykeham sits just to the southwest of Lincoln, effectively serving as a transition between the city’s urban outskirts and the flatter agricultural landscape of the Witham Valley. Though it has grown significantly over the last century, it maintains its own distinct identity centered around the original village core and the Town Council at the Fen Lane hub. Geographically, it is shaped by its proximity to the A46 and the railway line, with its own station providing a direct link into Lincoln and through to Nottingham. One of its most defining features is the abundance of water and green space; the area is dotted with former gravel pits that have been reclaimed as nature reserves and leisure lakes, most notably Whisby Nature Park and the Millennium Lakes, which provide a natural buffer to the surrounding development. It’s a practical location where the historical roots of a small farming parish still surface in the older sandstone buildings near the church, even as it functions now as a self-contained town with its own established schools, independent shops, and direct access to the Roman 'Fosse Way.'
