Leighton Buzzard sits in the smart pocket of south Bedfordshire where the Chiltern Hills begin to roll into the Ouzel Valley. It’s a town defined by its balance: you have the busy, traditional High Street with its medieval market cross and regular Tuesday and Saturday markets, but you’re never more than a short walk from the quiet of the Grand Union Canal or the greenery of Rushmere Country Park. Geographically, it's very well-placed for anyone needing to get around, as the train line into London Euston takes about half an hour, yet the town still feels distinct and self-contained rather than just a commuter satellite. Historically, it was a hub for sand quarrying - which left behind several local landmarks like the Narrow Gauge Railway - and it remains connected to its sister town, Linslade, by a bridge over the river. It’s the kind of place where you can spend a morning at a local independent cafe and the afternoon walking through ancient woodland or along the towpath toward the Globe Inn.
