Ledbury sits tucked away in the corner of east Herefordshire, right where the county meets the hills and the Worcestershire border. It is a market town defined by its survival; looking around the centre, you can still see the original medieval layout, most notably in the timber-framed Market House that has stood on its stilts since the 1650s. Geographically, it’s a practical place to be based, situated at the foot of the Malvern Hills with the A449 and A438 providing straightforward routes to Hereford, Gloucester, and Worcester. It’s also one of the few towns of its size in this part of the West Midlands to have retained its own railway station, with direct links running through to London Paddington and Birmingham. Life here tends to revolve around the independent shops along the high street and the quieter cobbles of Church Lane, and while it draws visitors for the annual poetry festival - a nod to the town's link with Elizabeth Barrett Browning - most days it simply functions as a reliable, well-connected base for those who prefer a rural landscape that isn't completely isolated.
