Hallsands, located in the South Hams region of Devon, is a charming coastal village that attracts nature lovers and history buffs alike. With its stunning coastline, glorious beaches and amazing views across Start Bay, Hallsands is a great place to enjoy outdoor activities. However, what makes this place truly unique is its fascinating history. In 1917, the village was almost completely destroyed after severe storms breached the shingle beach and a great number of houses fell into the sea. The village thereafter slowly declined until only a few fishermen's homes remained. Today, visitors can still see the remains of old buildings and even a few remnants of the original fishing village behind the modern houses that now reside here. Despite this tragic past, Hallsands has become a popular holiday destination and it's easy to see why when you consider its idyllic location, relaxed way of life and historical significance.
