Kidderminster sits in the Stour Valley in North Worcestershire, about 17 miles southwest of Birmingham and close to the edge of the Wyre Forest. Historically, the town was defined by the carpet industry; while most of the large-scale manufacturing has moved on, the legacy remains in the sturdy red-brick warehouses and mills that still line the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal. It’s a practical place to get around, with a ring road system that encircles the town centre and a railway station that offers direct links to Birmingham and London Marylebone. Geographically, it serves as a gateway to more rural surroundings, with the River Stour running through its heart and the Severn Valley Railway providing a scenic connection to nearby Bewdley and Bridgnorth. You’ll find most of the daily amenities concentrated in the pedestrianised town centre, but the real character of the area often lies in the outskirts, where the land begins to rise toward the hills of South Staffordshire.
