Dudley sits at the heart of the Black Country, positioned about eight miles west of Birmingham and effectively serving as a central hub for the wider West Midlands. It is a town built on elevated ground, dominated by the limestone ridge where the ruins of its 11th-century castle stand, overlooking the famed Black Country Living Museum and the entrance to the vast canal tunnel network.
