Woodlands is a distinctive model village situated roughly three miles north of Doncaster, immediately west of the A1(M). It was constructed in the early twentieth century by the Brodsworth Colliery Company to house its workforce, and it remains defined by the sprawling greenery of Brodsworth Park and the surrounding countryside. Architecturally, the village stands out because of the 'Woodlands Conservation Area,' which features wide, tree-lined avenues and unique cottage-style houses arranged around a large central square known as The Park. Geographically, it sits in a convenient pocket for those commuting towards Leeds or Sheffield, with Adwick railway station nearby offering direct links to the wider region. While much of the local industry has shifted since the pit closures, the area retains a strong sense of its planned heritage, bordered by the Highfields Lake and the Great North Road, which provides straightforward access to local amenities and retail parks in neighboring Carcroft.
