Sitting at the foot of the Preseli Hills, Crymych developed primarily as a Victorian railway village, though it has long since outlived the tracks that once connected it to the wider network. At around 800 feet above sea level, it is one of the higher settlements in Pembrokeshire, serving as a practical hub for the surrounding livestock farming communities. The village is defined by its strong Welsh-speaking identity and a straightforward, functional layout centered on the A478. While the weather here can be unforgiving when the mist rolls off the hills, the trade-off is immediate access to the ancient moorland and the rugged views toward the coast. It’s a place that feels self-contained, with a solid infrastructure of local shops and schools that sustain the village well beyond the summer tourist season.
