Haslingfield sits about six miles southwest of Cambridge, tucked just below the gentle rise of Chapel Hill. It is a long-established village centered around a spacious green and the flint-walled 14th-century church of All Saints, with a mix of timber-framed cottages and later additions that have filled in the gaps over the decades. Unlike some of its flatter neighbours, the village feels sheltered by its topography, particularly the wooded slopes to the south which offer some of the best views back towards the city and the university telescopes. Life here tends to revolve around a few core practicalities: there is a well-regarded primary school, a local shop that doubles as a post office, and a couple of pubs that serve as the main social hubs. It is a popular spot for cyclists heading out on the "hill" circuit, and while it feels properly rural, the proximity to the M11 and the nearby stations at Foxton or Shepreth makes getting further afield relatively straightforward. It’s the kind of place where you’ll still find an active village hall scene and plenty of people walking the footpaths out towards Barton or Harston on a Sunday.
