Duxford sits roughly ten miles south of Cambridge, positioned where the ancient Icknield Way crosses the River Cam. It is a village of two distinct halves, divided by the A1301 and the railway line, with the older core characterized by flint-walled cottages and the medieval St Peter’s Church. While it is internationally known for the Imperial War Museum airfield on its outskirts - a legacy of its role as a vital sector station during the Battle of Britain - daily life in the village is defined more by its functional connections. It is exceptionally well-placed for commuters, with the M11 nearby and Whittlesford Parkway station within walking or cycling distance, providing a direct link to London Liverpool Street and Cambridge. Despite its proximity to these transport hubs, the village retains a quiet, rural character, supported by two pubs and a primary school, all set within a landscape of flat, open Cambridgeshire farmland.
