Affetside is a charming village located just outside of Bury in the United Kingdom. Its name is derived from the Anglo-Saxon word 'Afit', meaning an old settlement, and 'side', meaning hillside. The village dates back to the 13th century, and there are still many historical buildings and landmarks to explore. The local pub, The Pack Horse Inn, is said to have been a hiding place for Catholic priests during the Reformation. Affetside also boasts fantastic access to both the countryside and nearby towns and cities, including Manchester which can be reached in under half an hour by car or train. Despite its proximity to urban life, Affetside remains a peaceful and idyllic community with plenty of scenic walks and rural landscapes on offer.
