Bromsgrove is a traditional market town in Worcestershire, situated about 16 miles south-west of Birmingham city centre and roughly the same distance north of Worcester. Geographically, it sits in a valley between the Clent and Lickey Hills, which offer some of the most prominent high ground in the West Midlands. The town’s layout still reflects its medieval origins, with the High Street largely pedestrianised and home to several timber-framed buildings, alongside the distinctive red sandstone of St John’s Church which overlooks the town. Historically, the area was a significant hub for the nail-making industry in the 18th and 19th centuries, a heritage still visible in the architecture of the older 'nailers' cottages' found in outlying districts like Sidemoor. Today, it functions as a well-connected base for those working across the Midlands, sitting right in the elbow of the M5 and M42 motorways, with the railway station at Aston Fields providing a steady link into Birmingham New Street. It remains a practical spot that balances its industrial past with easy access to the surrounding green belt.
