Broadstone sits on the high ground between Wimborne Minster and Poole, offering a distinct sense of elevation and space compared to the denser coastal suburbs nearby. Historically, the area grew from a small heathland hamlet into a busy railway junction, and though the station closed in the 1960s, its legacy remains in the "Castleman Trailway" - a flat, wooded walking and cycling route that follows the old trackbed straight through the middle of town. Today, life centers around the "Toast Rack," a series of leafy, parallel residential roads that lead down to a surprisingly self-sufficient Broadway. Here, you’ll find independent butchers and hardware stores alongside a well-used library and the large leisure centre. The landscape is dominated by the pine and gorse of the surrounding heathlands, like Dunyeats Hill, which provides a rugged, natural backdrop to the meticulously kept gardens and red-brick houses that define the local character.
