Severn Beach sits at the edge of the Severn Estuary, a place defined by its vast skies and the dramatic rise and fall of some of the highest tides in the world. Historically a popular seaside escape for Bristolians in the early 20th century, the village has since settled into a quiet, residentially focused community. Its unique geography is modernised by the presence of the Second Severn Crossing, which towers over the horizon to the north, while the vast marshlands of the Chittening Warth provide a stark, open landscape popular with birdwatchers and walkers. For those travelling into the city, the village serves as the terminus of the Severn Beach Line; it’s a slow, scenic train journey that winds through the Avon Gorge, eventually connecting to Bristol Temple Meads. While the local shoreline is more mudflats and shingle than sand, the paved sea wall offers a reliable stretch for walking with uninterrupted views across to the Welsh hills. Local life tends to revolve around a small cluster of shops and the village hall, maintaining a distinct, slightly isolated feel despite its proximity to the M5 and the industrial hubs of Western Approach.
