Patchway sits about six miles north of Bristol city centre, positioned on a ridge that overlooks the Severn Estuary. It’s a town defined largely by its relationship with the aviation industry; the sprawling Rolls-Royce works and the historic Filton Airfield - where Concorde was built and eventually laid to rest - border its southern edge. This industrial heritage means the layout is a mix of 1930s semi-detached homes and later post-war estates, all bisected by the main Gloucester Road. It is a highly practical place to live, situated right in the crook of the M4/M5 interchange and within easy walking distance of the Mall at Cribbs Causeway. While it feels more suburban and functional than rural, there are decent green pockets like Scott Park, and the nearby Aztec West business park provides a significant amount of local employment. It’s a settled, unpretentious community that serves as a key link between the city’s urban core and the northern employment hubs.
