Bognor Regis sits on a relatively flat stretch of the West Sussex coast, tucked between the South Downs to the north and the English Channel. It’s a town defined by its microclimate; sheltered by the hills, it consistently records some of the highest annual sunshine hours in the UK. Historically a small fishing village, it transformed into a seaside resort in the late 18th century and gained its "Regis" suffix following King George V’s convalescence here in 1929. Today, life centers around the long, shingle beach and the promenade, which stretches toward the quieter neighborhoods of Aldwick to the west and Felpham to the east. While the town centre provides the core amenities and transport links - including a direct rail line to London Victoria - the surrounding villages offer a slower pace, characterized by flint-walled cottages and residential greens. It remains a practical coastal base, well-positioned for exploring the nearby Cathedral city of Chichester or the walking trails of the National Park just inland.
