Bispham sits at the quieter, northern end of the Fylde coast, positioned between the buzz of central Blackpool and the marshlands of Cleveleys. Geographically, it is defined by its dramatic "cliffs" - grassy plateaus that rise above the Irish Sea, offering a distinct vantage point compared to the flat promenades further south. These cliffs are home to the upper walkway and the expansive Princess Parade, where the sea air is sharp and the sunsets are unobstructed. Historically, Bispham was a village long before Blackpool emerged as a resort, and you can still feel that older footprint around the Blackpool Old Road area. Today, life tends to centre on Bispham Village and Red Bank Road, a practical hub where the amenities are geared toward year-round residents rather than seasonal tourists. The tramway still runs along the coastline, providing a reliable link down the coast, but once you head inland toward the quiet residential avenues and the woodland of Rock Gardens, the atmosphere is notably more subdued and settled.
