Lying within the rolling landscape of South Gloucestershire, Badminton is a village that remains deeply connected to the 17th-century estate that sits at its heart. Because the Duke of Beaufort’s Great Badminton estate owns much of the local land and housing, the village has a preserved, consistent feel, characterized by distinctive yellow-limestone cottages and long stretches of dry stone walls. Geographically, it’s positioned roughly halfway between Bristol and Chippenham, making it a quiet pocket of countryside that is nevertheless within reach of the M4. While the area is internationally recognized for the three-day horse trials held each May, the village is generally very still for the rest of year. Life here tends to center around the village shop and the Primary school, with many of the local walks following the public footpaths that cut through the parkland. It is a place where the rhythm of the seasons - and the requirements of a working country estate - still dictate the pace of daily life.
