Addlestone sits in a practical spot in the borough of Runnymede, tucked between the larger hubs of Weybridge and Chertsey. It is perhaps best known for the ancient Crouch Oak, a hollow tree that has stood for some eight centuries and once marked the edge of Windsor Forest; legend says Queen Elizabeth I once picnicked beneath its branches. Locally, life tends to centre around the recently developed Addlestone One district, which brought a cinema and a mix of shops to the high street, alongside the reliable civic presence of the council offices and the library. Geographically, it is a very convenient place to be based, with the railway station offering a straightforward branch line connection to Waterloo and easy road access to the M25 and M3. While it’s largely a residential, suburban town, the nearby Wey Navigation provides some good walking routes along the water, offering a bit of green breathing space just a short distance from the town centre.
