Feering is a charming village situated in the Essex countryside, just a few miles away from Colchester. Steeped in history, Feering has been inhabited since the Bronze Age and is thought to have derived its name from the Saxon word 'Ferendune', meaning 'a way through the ferns'. The village is home to St. Mary's Church, parts of which date back to the 13th century. A number of Grade II listed buildings line the street, including The Firs, which was once home to novelist Barbara Cartland. Feering has a range of amenities including a primary school, pub, and village shop. The surrounding countryside is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts with plenty of walking and cycling trails. The nearby town of Colchester offers further amenities such as shopping, entertainment and transport links to London.
